Various recs from various fandoms. Not comprehensive at all. Or even close. Updated from my del.icio.us bookmarks.
- A Place Called Home (Doctor Who) - martha in 1913. a vivid look at her time there. excellently drawn and oh so beautiful.
- memory, other (Dune) - paul. great voices and a good preservation of the dune feel, which is not easy at all.
- Certain Dark Things (Bourne series) - jason/marie. i have such a weakness for this pairing, and this is so wonderfully restrained the way they are.
- Lodestone (Batman Begins) - gordon. it's so very gordon. filled with excellent details.
- Unidentified (Stargate Atlantis) - mckay/sheppard. heartbreaking and hopeful, rodney gets a new start.
- Occupational Hazard (Casino Royale) - bond/villiers. i admit that this is mostly because i have a giant crush on tobias menzies, but both bond and villiers are well characterized, and their relationship is complex.
- and the band's playing hail to the chief (Stargate Atlantis) - mckay. a tag to the end of freedom's... just as good as that one.
- Freedom's Just Another Word For Nothing Left To Lose (Stargate Atlantis) - mckay. it's been recced everywhere, and it's totally deserved. rodney moving on in a realistic way, full of sadness and hope.
- Take Clothes Off As Directed (Stargate Atlantis) - sheppard/mckay. an interesting, twisty AU. full of sharp writing and a believable alternate world.
- Number These Excess Days (Carnivale) - sofie. i wanted to write a story like this once, but this is so much better than anything that i could have pulled off.
- In the Region of Ice (House M.D.) - wilson/cuddy. hurty in a very adult way.
- Lullaby (Harry Potter) - james/lily. the writing is beautiful, and the fear and the hope are perfect.
- The Exquisite Barometer (His Dark Materials) - will. in america after the end of the series. it's honest and beautiful.
- Deriving the Prime (House M.D.) - house/cuddy/wilson. funny, honest, and believable.
- Code 69 (Men In Black) - hilarious and perfectly in line with the movie. also features jay/kay slash
